Η 17χρονη Lorde, βασίλισσα των charts τη χρονιά που μας πέρασε, αναγνωρίστηκε και καλλιτεχνικά, αποχωρώντας με δύο Grammy (song of the year και best pop solo performance), ενώ οι Macklemore & Ryan Lewis αναδείχθηκαν best new artist και επικράτησαν στην κατηγορία best rap.
Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Alicia Keys επίσης βραβεύτηκαν στην τελετή που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Los Angeles το βράδυ της Κυριακής 26 Ιανουαρίου, ενώ καλύτερη rock performance αναδείχθηκαν οι Imagine Dragons, με το βραβείο καλύτερου rock τραγουδιού να πηγαίνει στο ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ του supergroup των Paul McCartney και Dave Grohl, εκείνο του καλύτερου alternative άλμπουμ στο ‘Modern Vampires of the City’ των Vampire Weekend και εκείνο του καλύτερου rock άλμπουμ στην επανέκδοση του ‘Celebration Day’ των Led Zeppelin. (Χωρίς σχόλιο).
Όσον αφορά το live show της απονομής, την παράσταση έκλεψαν οι Daft Punk με τον Stevie Wonder, η Pink και το α λα Cirque du Soleil χορευτικό της στα ταβάνια, η Beyonce με το σύζυγο, η Katy Perry, η Taylor Swift (που επίσης δε σταμάτησε στιγμή να χορεύει καθ’όλη τη διάρκεια του show, κάνοντας τους camera men να ασχολούνται συνεχώς μαζί της) και η Madonna που μοιράστηκε τη σκηνή με τους Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, τη Miranda Lambert, την Queen Latifah και 34 ζευγάρια που “παντρεύτηκαν” επί τόπου.
Στο φινάλε, ο Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), ο Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), o Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) και ο Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) ανέβηκαν στη σκηνή για να παίξουν live τα Copy of A των NIN και το My God Is The Sun των QoTSA, ωστόσο η παραγωγή επέλεξε να διακόψει την performance πριν ολοκληρωθεί για να περάσει σε διαφημιστικό break. (Αίσχος!)
